Everybody else sells the dream.

I’ll tell you the truth.

I’m Ian A. Harrington. I help law-firm owners quit chasing shiny tactics, fix what’s actually broken, and build a practice that doesn’t fall apart the second you take a day off. No buzzwords. No magic funnel. Just the stuff that works — said plainly.

The short version

I’m the guy your consultant doesn’t want you to call.

I spent nineteen years actually running and fixing law firms before I ever stood on a stage. I’ve made payroll when the account said I shouldn’t have. I’ve fired clients who deserved it and a few partners who deserved it more. I know the difference between advice that sounds good in a slide deck and advice that survives a Tuesday.

So no, I’m not going to hand you a 90-day funnel and a motivational coffee mug. I’m going to tell you what’s broken, why you’ve been avoiding it, and exactly what to do about it. Over a beer if you’re buying.

What I actually do

Four ways to get the truth out of me.

01 / Keynotes

Talks that don’t put your room to sleep.

Loud, funny, occasionally uncomfortable. Your attendees leave with three things to do Monday — not a folder they’ll never open.

02 / Coaching

One firm. One year. No hiding.

We meet, we look at the real numbers, and we fix the thing you’ve been pretending isn’t the problem. I take a handful of firms a year. That’s it.

03 / Intensives

A day in a room. Phones off.

You, your leadership, and me with a whiteboard until the plan’s done. Bring coffee. We’re not leaving with vague intentions.

04 / The Book

The cheapest advice I give.

Everything I’d tell you in a coaching call, minus the part where I make fun of your website. Twenty bucks. Read it on a flight.

Speaking & keynotes

Put me in front of your room.

Bar associations, firm retreats, legal-tech conferences — if your people are tired of the same recycled “leverage your synergies” nonsense, I'm your guy. I'll tailor it, I'll do the work, and I'll stay for the bar afterward.

The book

No Offense, But Your Firm Is the Problem.

A blunt, occasionally rude field guide to running a law firm that doesn’t run you into the ground. No jargon, no filler chapters, no “let’s circle back.” Just the stuff I wish someone had told me at 31.

★★★★★ 1,100+ reviews who'd argue with the title and agree by chapter three.

What they say after

People I’ve paid to say nice things about me

★★★★★

“Ian told me in ten minutes what three consultants spent two years dancing around. It stung. Then it made me a lot of money.”

Dana R.
Managing Partner, 14-attorney firm
★★★★★

“He's the only speaker we've booked twice. The first time half the room was offended. They all signed up for the second.”

Marcus T.
State Bar Conference Chair
★★★★★

“No slides full of stock photos. No 'synergy.' Just a guy who's done it telling you the truth. Refreshing doesn't cover it.”

Priya N.
Founder, boutique IP practice

The Friday email

One email a week. No fluff, no funnel.

Every Friday I send one blunt lesson from the week — something I saw work, something I saw blow up, and what you should do about it. Unsubscribe whenever. I won't take it personally.
